The Blue-Balled Toad, Part 2

Come late March, demand’s sure to soar
As heaps of males fail to score;
So, for Bufo orchitus
It’s, indeed, fortuitous
There are sympathetic humans galore.

Parts 1 | 2

Bufo orchitus is a fictional Latin binomial meaning “swollen-testicled toad.” Incidentally, the mating position that frogs, toads, newts and other creatures assume is called amplexus, which is Latin for “embrace.” Stumpy just calls it “froggie style,” even though frogs and toads are classified in different families. Some 400 species of frog in Family Ranidae and about 300 species of toad in Family Bufonidae are known to science.
