Old Angler’s Advice

“Daughter,” old angler said, “men are trout,
“To hook up, wade in and cast out,
“Choose and work the right flies
“To entice one to rise
“Then set the hook and reel in the lout.”

Angling is an ancient activity; the oldest fishhook found dates back some 42,000 years. In Japan, the fugu, or puffer fish, is a succulent but lethal delicacy.
