Soviet Senior Sergeant Roza Georgiyevna Shanina attained 59 confirmed sniper kills during World War II. Her contemporary Major Lyudmila Pavlichenko reached 309 confirmed sniper kills. Of the first 2,000 female snipers in the USSR, a mere 500 survived the war. Read more at Controversial Times.
