Share some similar obsessions
With being nailed, screwed and drilled
By studs highly skilled
In marathon tongue-in-groove sessions.

The word stud has Old Norse origins. It means a thing that stands or protrudes, like a stick, knob or post. Etymologically, then, is it so surprising that a virile, sexually active man and a vertical piece of wood are both known as studs? Of course “tongue-in-groove” literally refers to a type of interlocking wall or ceiling woodwork, but it figuratively suggests cunnilingus.
