Dumpsters are a type of large, metal garbage container fashioned in such a way that only specifically designed trucks can empty them. The word is a genericized trademark of Dumpster, an American brand name, in much the same way that BAND-AID, Q-tip, Escalator and Thermos now refer to any brand of said items. Dumpsters typically are painted green, but they can in practice be any color. The name Dierdra, by the way, is of Celtic/Gaelic origin. It means “sorrowful,” “melancholy” or “wanderer.” Based on what we know of Dierdra’s clientele, it’s not inaccurate to call her a “hobosexual.”
