There are two linguistic jokes in this limerick. The first regards Québécois (Quebec French) slang, in which graine means “dick” or “penis.” The other is an English homophonic pair (words that sound the same, but have different meanings). In this case, they happen to be spelled differently. Mete means to dispense, allocate, allot or apportion something, whereas meat refers to muscle tissue and is also slang for male genitalia.
